More Love for Gaming Geeks
Since Ace already posted about Spore, I would be remiss if I did not chime in as well.
Will Wright, the guy who also did Sim City and the Sims, is the mastermind behind Spore. I am more interested than I was at first thanks to my regular listening to the Gaming Steve podcast. Gaming Steve (a.k.a. Steven Glicker) started his site/podcast a year ago and from its inception he has been covering every last little detail on Spore that can be found, and now even Will Wright is posting in his forums.
Gaming Steve is a good, professional podcast, with a wide ranging scope from retro reviews of old games (his Baldur's Gate 2 review was great!) and new games on the current platforms (including Japan imports for the Nintendo DS). I listen to it each time, and is a mainstay of my gaming podcast listening, which helps pass the time doing cardio at the gym, along with the ever polite and Xbox Live guru Major Nelson.
On a more geeky and drool-inducing note, a genuine killer app is coming out for the Xbox 360 tomorrow, namely Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. If you are an AD&D geek, this should fulfill your geeky needs for a long, long time, between the dungeon crawling, questing, monster killing, thieving, and more. There are somewhere around 200 possible dungeons, and estimates of game play are over 200 hours (if you want to do everything).
Why, yes, I have it on pre-order. Why do you ask?
