Andrew Sullivan: "What's the big deal with callin' someone a homo?"
Independent-minded. Non-partisan. Highly principled.
Of course I'm talking about Andrew Sullivan, and his new best buds, the equally independent-minded, non-partisan, and highly-principled Daily Kos, Josh Marshall, and Atrios.
The Daily Recycler takes out the trash so I don't have to.
I'm just curious: If I began identifying Andrew Sullivan at every mention like so:
Andrew Sullivan, the homosexual....
or
Andrew Sullivan, who lies down with men...
or
Andrew Sullivan, sodomist...
would he rise to my defense?
C'mon, now. Andy is once again extraodinarily flexible when it comes to defending the politicians he currently favors.
Same behavior from those he doesn't like-- "outrage," "appalling," "disgusted," "heart-ache," etc.
He's beyond parody at this point. Which doesn't mean I won't try. It just makes it... tricky.
Awesome Bitchslap Update! Instapundit jerks one into the cheap seats with this towering shot:
STILL MORE: Andrew Sullivan writes: "The usually even-keeled Instapundit says that Kerry's 'position on gay marriage is the same as the President's.' I can't see how that's even remotely the case."
Well, it was this Kerry statement that led to my conclusion:
The president and I have the same position, fundamentally, on gay marriage. We do. Same position.
Call me crazy, but I took that to mean that they had the same position. Since it was a Kerry statement, I should have realized that I was probably missing out on a crucial nuance.
From Spoons, who adds:
I don't care that Sullivan's become a Democrat. I care that he's become a dick.
Well.
I don't think those are going to be easy to top.
