CBS Poll: Breakfast Tacox Now Split In Party Preference

Biden Sixth-Quarter Average Is Lowest for an Elected President

Biden's sixth quarter in office, spanning April 20 through July 19, recently ended. During this time, an average of 40% of Americans approved of the job he was doing as president. No president elected to his first term has had a lower sixth-quarter average than Biden, although Jimmy Carter's and Donald Trump's ratings were only slightly better, at 42%. Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan also averaged below majority approval.

Donald Trump's sixth quarter was marked by the continuing Russiagate hoax and contrived Deep State investigation. But he also, you know, started to post some good results.

Like nearly every president since Dwight Eisenhower, Biden saw his job approval rating decline between his fifth (41%) and sixth quarters. Trump is one of the exceptions, as his sixth-quarter average of 42% was better than the 39% during his fifth quarter. As a result of these changes, the sixth quarter marks the first time Biden's quarterly average has been lower than Trump's was in the same quarter.

Here's a leftover from last week: In a University of New Hampshire poll, Pete Bootyjudge is actually ahead of Biden for presidential preference among Democrats. It's a statistical tie, but, you know, looking past that, Biden, a sitting president, is in second place.

Oddly, Cory Booker -- an individual I really thought I was excused from ever having to think about again -- really cleans up as far as second place preference.

When asked their second choice, 14% of likely Democratic primary voters prefer Booker, followed by Bootigieg (13%), Sanders (11%), Abrams (10%), Warren (8%), Ocasio-Cortez (7%), Clinton(5%), Newsom(5%), Murphy(4%), Harris(4%), Klobuchar(4%), Biden(2%), and Whitmer(2%).

Oooh, Biden is the first choice of 16% and almost no one's second choice.
