There's a weird magical thinking process going on here in the heads of many leftists, including the people in the boardroom of major US companies. On the one hand, they really do believe a lot of these leftist tenets they espouse. But somehow, they think we can "tear it all down" but also everything will mostly stay the same, except rainbows and unicorn farts. They really do yada yada yada over all the details of how we'll go from one state to the next. Hoyt is entertaining, and seems like she's actually a normal person. But I very seldom read her links (which are often to writers she knows).
I'm glad Helen has found something constructive to do other than make a daily "buy some merch, hoss" post.

I read her blog when she was more active in actually promoting her law prof research through documenting the craziness in Madison over Walker and the Republicans taking power.
Insty, I take a glance maybe once per day, ignore the comment section now, and rarely if ever click on links other than the few solid cobs noted above, Heriot, occasionally Hoyt, and Stephen Green now and again. I click on about 20-30 percent of Glenn's stuff primarily related to his legal articles. His op eds are forgettable more or less. I think that Glenn is avoiding risk after his law prof dayjob was threatened by admin over a short post at Instapundit regarding protesters blocking roads.

This is another reason I re-registered as an Independent after the Infrauduration. I figured that at some point the leftist mobs will organize to start making ordinary Republican voters pay, personally, and the bigshots of the GOP will actually allow and enable it (until the mobs work their way up to the big money donors, at least). Your voter registration information is available publicly online, and I figured it's a bad time to be wearing that scarlet R right now.

Thomas could be interesting, but he was a weird dude and it got to be annoying after a while.
I like Insty and still comment there, but I can't stand most of his COBs. I actually really dislike Hoyt's writing style, so I ignore her posts.

Thank you, sincerely. I actually researched and used the link features in disqus when merited and used a more formal posting style than I used here. I had over 72,000 posts on Disqus and always took the platform seriously.
Glenn and my falling out inasmuch as it is there was likely over a combination of his and my dialogue on the insanity of the schizoid over and under reaction of the COVID response and my correctly pointing out the 2d,3d, and 4th tier order of effects of those choices on election 2020. Driscoll is a bottom feeder.

None of PJ Media's 'stars' that I have read are worth paying for to me. I have concluded that Salem media is basically a gatekeeper for Chamber of Commerce types. As a result, many of the posters on PJ Media are essentially wannabe prospective employees for the WaPo or NYT as a house conservative or a David Brock type.

Too many of Althouse's commenters were obsessives who just couldn't let go of a topic or an opposing commenter. She should have banned the bad apples and let the rational ones continue.
I detested the HR fag and the repellant Ritmo, who actually did get banned. Apart from Howard, the mini-Ritmo, most of the Leftie commenters were wrong, but otherwise unobjectionable.

Back in the early days of blogs, there was a lot more individual character. But then the normies turned up to the internet, all those extra eyeballs meant ad revenue potential, and everything quickly became homogenized dreck put out by people who went from doing something they enjoyed as a hobby to trying to make a buck.

As you say, she can make some good points but often the verbiage overwhelms the point she is trying to make. I can identify as I do that often myself. It always helps to have an editor. The ironic thing is that the recent troll limits at AOS helped force me to try commenting more succinctly but the formatting limits are the frustrating part of the troll bane.
I usually go through at least 2-3 drafts at a minimum when writing formally to get to the point and to be more clear. Writing concisely is a knack that better writers than me have.
