They are trying to appeal to all the soon to be new citizens what are natural conservatives who are down with all the left's policy's or something.

15 Republican governors are shooting themselves in the foot to shockingly little purpose recently.
Presume they are doing it out of some desire to implement the desires of the electorate and it makes no sense.

Presume they are doing it out of a desire for personal benefit? And then it all makes sense.

If I said my heart was beating loud
If we could escape the crowd somehow
If I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me?
'Cause you feel like paradise, and I need a vacation tonight
So, if I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me?
According to Britney (the last true Princess of Pop), it is "If I want your body" not "lovely body." This is counter to the headline, but also counter to my own memory of the lyric which I always though "If I love your body."
My world is now spinning apart.

I have noticed similar behavior. Here is the post I left for Pixy on the Art Thread (I am just repeating it because I think it was a pretty good description of the problem, and it might give you something to look for next time to see if it's the same).
Sometimes when I post, I won't see it until I refresh the page up to maybe thirty seconds later. The comment is there, but it doesn't render. This happened to me at comment #190. Comment 189 showed up, but mine didn't. The URL indicated that it jumped to my new comment ("#c190" was appended to the end of the URL after posting) but it didn't display. It showed up after a subsequent refresh (F5-style refresh).

- First step leading to reeducation camps and gulags?
- Just justification for more overreach and tyranny?
- A distraction from the real extremists (Left wing, M.E, and Chinese)?
- An attempt to push woke-ness down the ranks?
- A way to hunt out those disloyal to the current regime and their coup?
Or all of the above.

Don't get me wrong, the characters are funny and the movie, aside from the long car chases, is entertaining.  It's amazing how well Aykroyd and Belushi do with the musical material.  (Aykroyd has a *great* voice.)    "Rubber Biscuit" is at least funny, and the scene where they perform the theme from Rawhide is a classic too.  But their other stuff is not that memorable.

What has always stunned me is that we were told these famous Siamese twins both married, different women, and fathered children. This was long before in vitro fertilization and the use of turkey basters. So, unless their wives were cheating on them (possible, I guess), there were a *lot* of, well, threesomes in that menage!

244 Don't get me wrong, the characters are funny and the movie, aside from the long car chases, is entertaining.  It's amazing how well Aykroyd and Belushi do with the musical material.  (Aykroyd has a *great* voice.)    "Rubber Biscuit" is at least funny, and the scene where they perform the theme from Rawhide is a classic too.  But their other stuff is not that memorable.
Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at April 06, 2021 02:43 PM (/XOcP) ---- All of the Blues Brothers music in the movie were classic blues hits by other musicians from decades ago.   Like a who's who of blues.  Jake and Elwood brought most of these long-forgotten (to the masses) songs back onto the front burner in '78.   A local radio station that plays an all-Blues show for 6 hours on Sat and Sun nights refuses to play any Blues Brothers, but has played every song by it's original performer.   It's quite entertaining to listen to the original songs, most - although not all - sound better.    But I'll always remember the Blues Brothers as rescuing the art of blues music for a new generation.  One that is now getting a bit gray on the temples.

317 My first attempt at posting here at the new blog.  I'll chime in on the libertarianism talk.  First, big-L Libertarian, like big-C Conservative is simply a label for a party that does whatever its controllers want.  Those are pointless labels.  I'm a small-l ("el") libertarian:  I'm a productive adult, I take care of my business, and if after being productive and taking care of my business (and my kitteh), I want to get stoned on marijuana - one of God's plants - that's my F'ing business.  How many here want their lives governed by a standard set by the most restrictive standards?  Let's go Amish.  Libertarianism (capitalizing the L because it is the first word of the sentence) is not about anything goes.  It is not "about" pot.  It is about "your" (whoever "you" is) social mores should not determine my way of life, especially if you have sex outside of marriage.  No one who has sex outside of marriage has any business telling me I can't enjoy marijuana.     When my family moved to Fairfax Co., VA in 1973, you could not get liquor at restaurants.  Yeah, that juicy steak you're enjoying?  Forget about having your favorite whisky with it.  And that whisky is a drug, just like your beer and wine are.  It's just that they're *your* drug.  Alcohol is orders of magnitude more pernicious than marijuana.  Frankly, alcohol should be DEA schedule 1 (except that it's *your* drug).  Sugar should be DEA schedule 1 too (the refined stuff).  Tobacco too.  How far do you want to take this?

Yup, and they probably will apply extremely rigorous standards for verification. They will verify the recall signatures (and probably lie about it to reject most of them, but that's neither here nor there) but not ballot envelope signatures.

that is all speculation because you like marijuana and not the other products. it is shocking to to me that all doctors and pharmacologists were so wrong over an hundred plus years. i personally have no issue if you use marijuana on your own time. I personally think it should be legal to grow, and not taxed and taken over by the local government. Most pot enthusiasts want to go in with the gov and even make a business out of it. To me, that takes away from the idea of a natural herb just growing everywhere.

and look at the shithole today. If the people that live there now had a clue what it was like in the 70s and 80s, they would at least admit that the place has been turned upside down. Today it is full of crime, full of vandalism. it is nothing like those days and if you think they were worse, we would disagree there.

that is not just for Fairfax VA. That is everywhere. There are few places that have become safer and better over the decades. I know that place in particular is a shell of its former self. Too bad too because it was a damn nice place to grow up way back when.
