Speaking in Dubai, Tucker Carlson calls for a "ceasefire" for Israel, says the US' support of Israel has the motive of "supporting destruction for the sake of destruction," says the US lacks all "moral legitimacy"
Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host and right-wing media personality, suggested on Monday that the U.S. had lost its "moral authority" because it has refused to call for a cease-fire in the war between Israel and Hamas.
"If you see a nation with awesome power abetting war for its own sake, you have a leadership that has no moral authority, that is illegitimate," Carlson said at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he was participating in a discussion on the future of "storytelling."
The answer came in response to a question asking him to assess why the U.S. had vetoed a U.N. resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza.
"It's something that I try to express, and I'm often called a traitor for saying that. It's the opposite," Carlson added to applause. "I say that because I believe in the United States. I think it has been a morally superior country, and if we allow our leaders to use our power to spread destruction for its own sake, that is shameful."
A fair number of people on the right have found such kinship with leftwingers (honorable though they may be) like Glenn Greenwald and Aaron Mate that they've decided to just embrace the Noam Chomsky leftwing view of the world completely. I think I can thank Greeenwald and Mate for being stand-up guys without being honeydicked by them into accepting their Colonialist/Occupier worldview.
And one can hate the Deep State
without hailing Putin as a hero or whining that Israel should show "restraint" when dealing with Hamas terrorists.
One thing that really bothers me about Tucker Carlson is his... dishonesty. He has clearly been campaigning to make the idea that Israel is controlling US foreign policy for a while -- apparently now a proponent of the Radhid Tlaib/Ilhan Omar school of thought -- but keeps claiming "I'm just trying to give all sorts of different viewpoints an airing."
No, Tucker, you're trying to give ONE viewpoint an airing; why are you continuing to be evasive about what your actual beliefs are? You can't pose as the One Honest Man in DC while refusing to admit what your beliefs and intentions are.
Another example: he'll attack the US for funding Israel, and then say "I'm just trying to say we should be concerned about our border than foreign countries'." As with some, foreign aid
only becomes an issue when we're talking about aid to Israel. And little by little the truth comes out; he's arguing for more than "fund our borders first." He's arguing that we should lean on Israel and favor Hamas in their terror war. Again, why is he so deceptive on this point? If you want to be a "truth teller," Tucker, start with the truth of what your actual beliefs now are.
