Low Salt Diets Cause Heart Attacks, Redux
"SALT is bad. It is a simple message, but one that America’s health officials have tried time and again to drill into the minds of their rotund fellow citizens. . . . A new study, conducted by researchers from Belgium, the Czech Republic, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and Russia, and published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, suggests that low-sodium diets may not be so healthy after all. . . . [T]he researchers came to a shocking conclusion. Those who ate the least salt were most likely to die of heart disease. Those who consumed the most were no more likely to develop hypertension than the low-sodium group." Shocking? I'm not surprised. More here. [rdbrewer]
