Bleg: Guns & Ammo Advice
I got my Tax Refund today (yeah, I'm a late filer).
I was going to put it in my 401(k), but, meh.
So, I have decided to spend it on guns and ammo.
Here are the criteria I have:
1) I have applied for a concealed carry permit, so I want recommendations for a handgun. I am not a fan of revolvers. I much prefer reloading with clips. I'm lazy.
2) I think I trust something like a pump action shotgun for home defense (as I would rather not have to aim too closely in the dark at 3:00 AM). I don't like my current shotgun because it's old and only holds two cartridges before you have to reload.
3) I also plan on taking up deer hunting. My brother goes all the time, and I've finally decided to take him up on his offer to join in on the fun. So I need some suggestions here, as I've never owned a rifle.
4) The kicker: I also want to buy something that seems most likely to be banned should the Dems attempt a sequel to the Brady Bill. This relates to both the gun itself and the ammo it uses.
Anyway, that's pretty much the deal. A good concealed carry weapon, a good home defense weapon and a good sportsman's weapons. The guns I currently own are old (my shotgun belonged to my grandfather and was primarily used for duck and quail hunting; I inherited my handgun from my father and is actually a collectable that I would prefer not to use so as to preserve it's condition and value.)
I know this is a topic that you morons know a lot about. So put me some knowledge so that I can make an informed choice, instead of just buying what looks cool.
Which I would do. 'Cause I figure if you are gonna be in a shoot-out, you might as well look like a bad-ass. That way even if you lose, you kinda win.
