Another New Fad: Choking Yourself To Death

Fun!

A student at West Virginia University apparently hanged himself by accident in his dorm room while doing an activity known as the "choking game," a university spokeswoman said Friday.

A staff member at Dadisman residence hall found the body of 21-year- old Jonathan David Hansen hanging from a cord in his room at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, said spokeswoman Becky Lofstead.

...

The object of the "choking game" is to deprive the brain of oxygen so one can feel a brief rush when the blood flow returns. The game --also known as space monkey, flat-liner, fainting game and black out --was responsible for more than 50 deaths last year and eight this year, according to the Stop The Choking Game Web site. It can also cause brain damage, strokes, seizures and retinal damage.

...

Hansen, of Elkview, was a junior majoring in chemical engineering and a 4.0 student, Lofstead said.

Intelligence 18, Wisdom 3.

Although I admit it's hard to resist a game called "space monkey."

I get the feeling this article is leaving something out out of respect for the parents. A lot of people -- well, a lot of men -- hang themselves when masturbating to increase the intensity of the orgasm. Or maybe it just seems more intense when you're delirious from asphyxiation.

That's how Michael Hutchence went, of course.

Really a hell of way to go, particularly for your family. As if someone wants to see their son, husband, or father hanged to death in the garage with his pants off.

This is just further proof of my theory: Men are very horny and very stupid.

What, no mention of the Darwin award?

The way i see it, you want a rush? Go ride a scary rollercoaster, go bungee jumping or take up skydiving. Hanging yourself is not a calculated risk, it's a death wish. Also how is it that someone could get tired of a regular orgasm?

This talk of swinging kids does remind me of when I went to college and a kid hung himself (real suicide not a thrill seeking stunt) by the door of his dorm room. When his roommate came in he found that the door was hard to open (as if a heavy weight was holding it back). He thrust open the door only to be hit in the face by the swinging body of his room mate. True story. I think that kid needed a lot therapy after that. Suicidal people are so slefish! They never think of others. :)
